COLEEN BOWNES PERMANENT MAKEUP

Permanent makeup (PMU) including micro-blading is also known as cosmetic tattooing or cosmetic pigmentation of the brows, eyeliner and lips.

These micro pigmentation techniques assure a time saving solution for clients on the go. They also supply an ease of application for those who do not like to apply makeup.

Permanent Makeup is recommended for clients who wear pencil or liquid eyeliner daily and would like to save time on applying it. One of the greatest advantages of permanent eyeliner is that it will never run and always have a beautiful shape that is professionally drawn. Permanent eyeliner can be applied on either lower or upper line or both.

Topical anesthetics are applied before and during the procedure and reduce the discomfort greatly. Keep in mind, that colours appear brighter, darker and more sharply defined immediately following the procedure. As the healing progresses, colour will fade and soften (40-60%).

This takes about 2 - 4 weeks. Every skin is different and will therefor fade differently. Factors such as skin tone, age, medication, sun etc may all have an effect on the end result.

Clients do require a touch-up treatment after 6-8 weeks to penetrate and lock the colour into the skin. PMU is permanent but it does fade with the years. Some clients need another treatment in a year, some clients after 3 or 5 years.

This will also differ from person to person depending on what your skin does with the colour, how it heals, after care and exposure to sun.

FAQ'S
PRE PROCEDURE
POST PROCEDURE
⊲ Do I need a separate consultation before my appointment? No, a separate appointment for consultation is usually not necessary. I always send out a list of preliminary questions to my prospective clients and if you answer those questions with the desired answers a consultation is not necessary. I will however always require a consultation if you have previous permanent make up done on the area you are inquiring about. ⊲ Is there anything I need to do before or after my permanent makeup appointment? Yes, there are several things that need to be done before and after your permanent make up procedures. All of these will be detailed out in the paperwork that will be emailed to you when you make your appointment. ⊲ How long is my permanent makeup appointment? The length of time depends on the service chosen. Appointments run between 1 1/2 hours to 2 1/2 hours. ⊲ Does permanent makeup hurt? I use a pre-numbing cream before the procedure and a numbing gel once the skin is opened. I try my best to work back-and-forth so that no one spot gets too much work done at a time. I do my absolute best to keep you as comfortable as possible. Most clients report little to no pain. ⊲ Can I wear makeup after the procedure? Keeping the area free from bacteria is vital to preventing an infection. Cosmetics should not be used on or around the treated area until it is closed and fully healed, which is roughly 5-15 days depending on your service and your typical healing pattern.
1. Do not make any social plans for the same day as delicate or sensitive skin may be swollen or red. 2. Please wear your normal makeup. If you have lips or brows done, bring your favourite pencils. 3. If unwanted hair is normally removed in the area to be treated, waxing/tweezing should be done at least 24 hours prior to your procedure. No hair removal for a week after the procedure. 4. If eyelashes or eyebrows are normally dyed/tinted, allow 48 hours or wait two weeks after the eyeliner or eyebrow procedure. 5. If you are using Latisse (or any lash growth serum) discontinue using for 2 nights prior and 2 weeks after your treatment. 6. If you wear eyelash extensions they must be completely removed prior to any eyeliner treatment and not re-applied until your final touch up procedure is healed. 8-10 weeks. 7. If you wear contact lenses and are having eyeliner done, do not wear your lenses to your appointment and do not replace them until the day after the procedure. 8. If you are having lip liner done and are prone to cold sores/fever blisters, the procedure is likely to activate it again. Your technician will make recommendations for helping to prevent or minimize the outbreak. 9. Refrain from using alcohol and Vit. A or D the day on and before your procedure. 10. Try not to take any painkillers before the treatment (it thins the blood and can affect colour retention), the technician will apply a numbing cream/gel prior to the treatment. DOWNLOAD PDF
Day 1-2 following the procedure: In the rare instance that the area has been weeping clear fluid after the procedure, very gently clean the area by dabbing with sterile water on a cotton pad, gauze or cotton bud. Allow to air dry. For 7 to 14 days following PMU procedure: NO water, cleansers, creams, makeup or any other products on treated area DO NOT rub, pick or scratch the treated area. Let any crusting or dry skin exfoliate naturally. Picking may cause scarring and loss of colour. Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for 6 weeks NO facials, botox, chemical treatments and/or microdermabrasion for 6 weeks Avoid sleeping on your face for the first 14 days Avoid heavy sweating (i.e. gym workouts) Should the brow area skin feel tight - you may apply a thin coating of the healing balm supplied only after 3 days - and only if necessary. Should the lips feel tight - you may apply a thin coating of the healing balm supplied as much as you like immediately after until healed. Please note: The treated area will initially appear darker, brighter and bolder due to natural crusting for the first 7 to 14 days. This is very common for all permanent cosmetic procedures. It is very important to make a follow-up appointment for 4-6 weeks after the initial procedure in order to refine the new permanent procedure. This will ensure that a beautiful and pleasing result is achieved and will increase longevity of the new permanent makeup. If you have any questions please contact Coleen 0729698420. DOWNLOAD PDF
